| What you can do | Minimal (this guide) |
|---|---|
| Install anything | No — just a browser + wallet |
| Browse & search the catalog | Yes |
| Download releases (pay TTT) | Yes |
| Keep a durable copy / earn TTT | No — that's the Pinner tier |
1. Get a wallet on Arbitrum
You need a wallet such as MetaMask (browser extension) or any WalletConnect-compatible wallet, set to the Arbitrum One network. The wallet is how you connect, pay download costs, and — if you upgrade later — receive TTT.
- Install MetaMask from the official site and create or import a wallet.
- Add the Arbitrum One network if it isn't already there.
- You'll need a small amount of TTT to pay for downloads.
A free-download path exists in the incentives contract but is not yet wired into the app UI, so plan on keeping a small TTT balance for now.
2. Open the app and connect
- Open the Torrentech app at app.torrentech.org.
- Click Connect Wallet and approve the connection in your wallet.
- You're in. Browsing and searching the catalog is always free — no TTT needed.
3. Find and download a release
- Browse or search for an artist, album, label, or tag.
- Open a release to see its details, cover, and available formats (FLAC, MP3, etc.).
- For a gated format, click Pay
<cost>TTT — the amount is shown on the button. Paying burns the TTT; this is normal and keeps the token economy balanced. - Use Download and Pin to save the files (a folder download on
Chromium-based browsers, otherwise a
.zip).
Downloading as a folder (instead of one archive) uses a newer browser feature and
needs a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave). Firefox and
Safari fall back to a single .zip. Either way, no node is required.
4. That's it
You do not run a node, configure CORS, or set a Peer ID. Everything works through your browser and wallet.
What you give up at this tier: you don't keep a durable IPFS copy, and you don't earn TTT. Earning requires running your own IPFS node — see the Pinner guide. You can upgrade any time; nothing here needs to be undone.
