Electronic music artists are welcome to send us their albums ready to be released under some of the CC licenses. You just need to make the album available online, and PM me with details. Reply is guaranteed, but please understand it might be delayed, because sometimes I need to listen to some music multiple times, so I can definitely decide whether it's worth releasing or not. At least 4 tracks and FLAC format are required. Of course, you can send MP3 or whatever you like as a preview. It is also possible that you get details on how you can upload your music to our FTP.

You, as an artist, will get good exposure to people interested in electronic music and when the album is released, because all members are notified through email + netlabel releases are freeleech. There is also a subforum where you can read some feedback from the community. Dedicated Torrentech netlabel site is http://netlabel.torrentech.org.

P.S. Don't forget to smile.gif

A bit of late reply (don't know how I missed notifications... smile.gif

2 Lezure: Yes, sure you can...

2 g3media: Your cover art can be included, but there's "official" unified looking cover art that EXE is making for every release, that cover art is included here in forum post and
in Discogs entry... However additional cover arts are OK.

Hi!

I wanted to ask a few things about tT label:

- What about license? Are these releases under Creative Commons or something? What can we do with them, meaning legally?
- And would it be possible to upload the information about each release on MusicBrainz? I don't know if this kind of label is actually considered as a real label on the website... I should check it out...

Edit: Now we're using Creative Commons licences...

Things here are pretty much relaxed. Actually, it is released under no licence, meaning that it's not exclusive and you can do with your work whatever you want (publish it on another label), and you must be prepared the people to remix, sample and use your sounds in their works. Torrentech label is here to promote and distribute what's good, that's all.

Discogs, for example, slowly but painfully recognizes netlabels, which are quite different than classic labels: there are no physical copies, frequently there is no artwork, and finally, it's usual that there is no direct financial benefit for the label.

As far as I am concerned, netlabels are the newest and the most democratic type of distribution, and they deserve to find themselves in various label directories... So, you can try to put us there, of course...

No, not as a .torrent in the forum... You can use some web based hosting service, or tell me you want to upload it via ftp, and I'll give you the server details. You can put it in online player also, but final decision can't be made until I hear FLACs...

First of all, I have a single I just made and it's only two songs. Is there anyway I could release that or does it have to be four? I suppose I could add two others and make it an ep. Also, secondly, I use Ableton Master Suite 8 for final production and mixing. Ableton, as far as I know, exports as wav and aiff only. Could I convert the high quality wav to flac and then send it to you or is the wav good enough? Or do I have to get the flac some other way?

Thanks,

doeo

The process for me was that you have to upload the FLACs to the FTP Pyc will give you if you're accepted. But he only takes EPs/Albums of 4 tracks or more (I wanted to do a single first as well, and he didn't take it).

You can use Foobar to convert from WAV to FLAC - most programs only export as WAV, so everyone has to do this.

When you have the album just upload it somewhere and send Pyc a PM so he can decide whether he wants to take it or not.

Good luck!

Just a thought, but do you think it would be worth hooking up to Beatport and other such places? That could be great promotion and a way of reaching a whole new crowd.

I think they're quite picky about who they accept - they wouldn't just take on a solo artist - but I think something the size of the tT label could work.

Design covers are done by me now... Until recently they were done by EXE. But I have to tell you somehting about covers... It just happened somehow that we enabled the covers for every release after first few releases, but in my opinion, those are the remnants of past time, and I can't really see the purpose in them because physical copy (CD) is also the past as I see it. So really, I'm on the verge of banning covers and sell my own philosophy about 'em, and my answer is OK, you can put them on musicbrains, but really it's not that important, and you can freely ommit that action smile.gif

Well, you are quite right about that. The CD/vinyl covers should also disappear because it's part of the old physical format, but hey, why don't you keep creating artworks that fit with the release? Maybe trying to put something visual that corresponds to the music's mood. It's still a good idea to have some visual aspect... For music softwares, for example, when you navigate through the covers of your library...

I just received this email from torrent tech about netlabel:

Before I ask you to pay attention to new Torrentech netlabel releases, be aware that all downloads in Netlabel section are freeleech now, while uploads are counted. So, if you have problem with ratio, here's a bit of a chance to help fix it....

I'm trying to find that section and I don't find it...Where is it??

I would LOVE to be able to seed some stuff since my ration is pretty bad now....

Thanks! no.gif
