> Vista - Enabling stereo mix
Here is the topic you chose to view
In this guide I will explain how to enable Stereo Mix in Vista. This is needed for streaming to torrentech radio and recording streaming audio.

1. Select "sound" from the control panel (double click "Sound" icon to open sound options dialog):

2. Select the recording tab
3. Right-click on the background of the tab and choose "Show Disabled Devices" and click to show disabled devices:

4. Disabled devices will be displayed. Right-click on "Stereo Mix" (or "Wave Out Mix" or "Mono Mix" or "What U Hear") and click "Enable" as shown below:

5. Now you can record any streaming audio or stream your own audio to any server.

If stereo mix didn't show up in your record tab there is another solution. We're gonna use a program called Virtual Audio Cable.

Virtual Audio Cable (VAC) is intended to connect several audio applications together in real time. It’s like a sound card with hardwired input and output: when an application sends an audio stream to a virtual cable, other applications can record this stream from the other cable end. Thus, you can record and process output of almost any audio application by almost any other audio application. VAC operates like TotalRecorder but is more universal. Use it to create a chains of software synthesizers (Generator, Reality), audio processors, recorders (WaveLab, Sound Forge), sequencers (Cakewalk, Cubase) etc. VAC works under Win95/98/ME/NT4/2k/XP. Under Win95/98/ME, DirectSound is supported.

After reading the above description of VAC, you might be thinking how Virtual Audio Cable can solve missing Stereo Mix/Wave Out in Recording option under Volume.

Virtual Audio Cable comes in two versions Trial and Full. Using the trial is impossible, since there is a female voice repeating "trial" every 5 seconds wen recording or streaming. Full version costs you 30 US Dollars. Either you buy it or either you know other sources i guess. You can buy it here:

There is a nice video guide on how to use the program to enable stereo mix here:
If you just follow the steps, everything should work fine. It has a nice song playing on the background as well wink.gif

Hope it helped. It helped for me!
