I should note: I didn't just "know" their ages, I verified the ages to help prove the grossness of the situation biggrin.gif I'll agree age doesn't matter to a point (once you are a certain age) but 14 and 40?! that's a bit much!

Luckily, thats just your opinion and most of the artists you mentioned in your list will state the same. Sure... a lot of the stuff will sound dated but you cant deny they were highly influencial. Therefor they deserve a spot in the top 100.

tr4sh, you're my man smile.gif kraftwerk's definitely overrated, and giorgio is even worse on that matter smile.gif

Oh, oh, oh....no Kraftwerk - no Techno music...that´s a fact!! There hasn´t been any other serious musicians
that consequently worked on and pushed electronic music like those guys from Düsseldorf. Yellow Magic Orchestra, for example, were just a japanese clone of Kraftwerk, so they definitely can´t be credited for pioneers in electronic music....but i see Moroder also totally overrated...a producer who had a few hits on the dancefloor in the 70´s and 80´s and that´s all!! wink.gif
pyc
haven't said kratwerk were not influential, but somehow i don't like their vibe too much. that is my problem with them. personally i like jean michel jarre's the better, and he was some kind of pioneer too (ok.. it's about 5 years behind), not to mention pink floyd - dark side of the moon with some serious electronica on it... smile.gif

maybe i don't like kraftwerk too much (yet i really respect their work), because of minimalist approach which generally i don't like, ... rare are the minimalists that i can listen to
djviz
got most of pyc's list on CD and some on my old early nineties vinyl - though i should say that i get really bored lsitening to mr Van Dyk, his stuff blows fish !

the rest on the other hand reminds me of a lot of the stuff i used to listen during that period though most are more accesible and represent the wider cross section of electronic music during the 90's -

i should point out that brand new heavies are not electronica mate, they are classified in Acid Jazz if anything, love them but they arent electronic, they might have a couple of electronic sounds in given tracks, but thats all.

Vapourspace is one of the more underground ones you quote, i met the bloke at some private parties we held in switzerland and a mates and my name appear on the single release of the gravitational arch of io smile.gif lol

and dominator ? are you referring to Frank de Wulf ?
if so, thats 3 tracks maybe, so hardly an artist, you might as well have quoted his alter ego, ie real name.

enigma tongue.gif hah, ok, maybe not - lol - at least they are by far the crappiest and most commercial mention on your list, id erase them if i were you wink.gif but hey, each to his own, right ?

also i think in terms of the DJ producers that rose above the rest in that period of time, i think you should really mention Dave Clarke and his Reload label smile.gif smile.gif oh yes !!

wish i could get hold of those 2 compilations, actually might have one fo them without remembering tongue.gif

also you hardy mention any of the Detroit boys ? what happened there, a gap in your history, a major one if so, come on, you know better than that: Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin etc etc...

As for me, well id quote 3/4 of your list and add loads of house/garage artists since i prefer that to techno in general and i was also heavily into industrial EBM techno in the late eighties - so Meat Beat Manifesto and all those related bands from SKinny Puppy to Frontline Assembly, to Ministry and back to KMFDM - got a lot of that on CD smile.gif

anyway, thought id drop this + ask about this site since thisis my first post, and im really after a tracker that dedicates itself to the house / techno / trance sounds from 1990 - 1999, but no later ?
does anyone know of a spot like that ?

this site is ok, but there is far too much Daft Punk for me, they are ok, but i need to be able to find old Kenny Carpenter, Frankie Feliciano, DJ Pierre, Murk Bros, MAW, Victor Simonelli type stuff - the rest is ok ,but not that interesting to me since one can find it anywhere - or in most places, then again not that easy without oinl these days. but even oink wasnt that hot on the stuff i mention till the last 6 - 8 months, and now its gone sad.gif
oh well, im sure some of you will be able to guide me smile.gif
cheers
and nice list pyc wink.gif

Of course not all the things from PVD are worthy, anyways he definitely did so much for trance and euro trance...

songs from 1st album are unforgettable to me, and there's also one very very good song from the cross of changes which is age of loneliness. enigma definitely got it's style.

well the artists i quote a mostly originated from teh Detroit crew, so quite a different style - generally more mellow than Beltram, who is very good too - but different stuff.

well in fact im just after a spot where old US house freaks might be united wink.gif
maybe till come around some day - got like 500 vinyl recs of that sort of stuff - and well , would love to share with peeps into the same stuff - cause as much as i see there is house on here, im having to dig between the Hed Kandi releases and the like which im not so hot on.

actually let me correct a previous bit of info where i asked whether Dominator was Frank De Wulf's alias, i realise it wasnt, but then again F. d Wulf didnt call himself Dominator, it was the name of the track and his alias for that track was Human Resource - kinda came to me cause i saw someone just post the name in another thread, but again relating to a diff artist tongue.gif

sorry bout that tongue.gif
confusions confusions ... too many names too many bands tongue.gif tongue.gif

These are the artists I've listened the most to... Generally, those are the ones that are constant good, evolving over time, and I tend to have their complete discographies... And there's wide variety of genres involved in my taste...

Your top has a lot of names I would name too, I have seen the following in real life and they were awesome:

adam beyer
alter ego
prodigy (don't like to listen to them at home but the live show they gave was SOOO good)
technasia
trentemoller
underworld
umek
pendulum (was ok, I'm not very into dnb)

These I haven't seen (yet I hope) but I like them very much:

alexander kowalski (awesome!)
amon tobin
aphex twin
astral projection
blue planet corporation
bluetech
chris liebing
deep dish (awesome)
depeche mode
groove armada
higher intelligence agency
jazzanova (awesome too)
joey beltram (Really Awesome)
marco carola (Also very awesome)
massive attack (Gonna see them at balaton sound)
nightmares on wax
st. germain
the advent
thievery corporation

Most of the other artists I either don't know or don't like. Some other artists I like very much:

Fatboy Slim (yeah you all don't agree but I really like his live sets and I'm finally gonna see him this summer! biggrin.gif )
Richie Hawtin AKA Plastikman (Gonna see him too there biggrin.gif !! )
Carl Cox
Jeff Mills (at parties, not very much at home)
Mauro Picotto
Ricardo Villalobos (AWESOME)
Carl Craig
Gorillaz
Kruder & Dorfmeister (Seen them)
Sasha
John Digweed
Sven Vath (Seen him)
Felix Da Housecat (Awesome, seen him but wasn't very aware of it tongue.gif )
Krafty Kuts (Really really cool style, but i like his older sets better, but im gonna see him so i hope he will use his old style biggrin.gif )
Hernan Cattaneo (Seen him at balaton sound last year, disappointing set, like a lot of his other sets quite much)
Ben Sim (Seen him was quite good)
Dave Clarke (Not my music at home but great at huge parties like I Love Techno wink.gif )
Adam Beyer same thing!
Sebastien Leger

That's all I can think of now tongue.gif

Balaton Sound will be awesome, already in 3 weeks or so biggrin.gif Huge line up.

Quite a long first post on this forum for me tongue.gif
