Better Living Through Circuitry (1999)

The effort to categorize and document the history of electronic dance music has intensified over the past few years, resulting in countless CD compilations and several cinematic documentaries. The latest is Better Living Through Circuitry, and the soundtrack suggests an attempt to link the current sounds to the industrial music movement of the 1980s. Representing the old school are Psychic TV and Meat Beat Manifesto, the latter of which shows up with "Money for E," a 1987 track from their prolific (and arguably most interesting) foray into acid-house dance music. Although the disc is weighted down with label-affiliated B-list tracks from Keoki and Electric Skychurch, the inclusion of Roni Size's revolutionary "Brown Paper Bag" and Future Sound of London's classic "Expander (Remix)" lend the collection a solid air of credibility. A friend of mine went to see a film screening all about Tresor & the Berlin - Detroit connection. He said it was amazing but sadly it doesn't appear to have been realised on DVD or anything. I would happily saw off one of my legs to get hold of it.

It takes the trip from Early Chicago House & Detroit Techno to modern times. If you haven't checked this one out its absolutely essential!

There's actually a good story about the making of that film...
Apperently Paul Kaye, who played the lead role got a little too into the Ibiza party scene while they were filming and would disappear for days on end, driving the director crazy!!!!!

Depicts one of the first really big psy parties in the western world. It's actually more of a festival dvd, but it has some quite funny interviews and I found it a great watch.
