QUOTE (birmingham @ 15. Aug 2011, 21:46) QUOTE (Recon @ 14. Aug 2011, 21:04) QUOTE (birmingham @ 14. Aug 2011, 19:41) i like setups without 3 monitors and a laptop scattered all over, i dont need to facebook while i mix. The laptop is mainly for Serato. The other 2 monitors are for Ableton Live sessions. Everything can be relocated or extended (cable-wise) quite easily. I also duo with someone hence the wide use of surface area. I constantly change my setup to try to be more efficient so the layout will most certainly change again after awhile. cheers mate totally respect that and think its good. just bugs me too have your head outside the music when its supposed to be in the mix. Of course. I also agree with you 100%. I guess having torrentech site on the lap top in the pic might give an inaccurate display of how a session might look. I actually try to turn everything 'social' off when I mix. I got that advice from a Dubspot Blog that was very informative. I'll post it. Its not the 'end-all' of what to do, but it has some interesting suggestings. I think its #9 on the list was what we are talking about. http://blog.dubspot.com/10-tips-to-fight-w...o-productivity/

I used to sit and text while i mixed and it was a mistake, now i find i am making better mixes and getting to a new level of creativity when i am completely focused, not to say i dont have a drink handy when i mix

Here's my setup ... Finally came together when i purchased the Behringer speakers about 2 months ago ... 2 x technics mk2 1 x Vestax VCM004XLu Traktor Scratch with Audio 8 M-Audio Firewire Cambridge Audio pre-amp Macbook pro 15" etc ... To those who say "i have no money" or "im a student i cant afford that" ... i mean, do you think everything was acquired in one go ? Im pretty sure it takes years for everybody to gear up to a somewhat likeable set up and then its all upgrades, little by little. I started in 2002 with one laptop, traktor dj da first and a pair of crappy headphones, mixing on the laptop keyboard. So its basically 9 years to get there and mostly because i had to work first and save up and also be really sure about what i want/need. So, chillax ... ...

my setup is simple... Technic decks n Pioneer CDJs all run through a pioneer mixer, Technic amp and speaker system. all enclosed in a lockable booth to keep everyone out when mixing:-)
