been seriously getting on the band wagon with this sound. quite frankly i can't get enough of it, especially as it provides serious relief from dubstep (anyone else finding it a little boring of late?)

i thought i would share some insight with anyone who is interested. here is a compiled list of producers who have been making some exceptional and exciting sounds. ive added tunes which i think are their best (i know i'm missing other great tunes but they are on my other comp).

pariah - orpheus, railroad, the slump
sully - phone box
sbtrkt - 2020, evening glow, timeless, pause for thought
CJ Reign - yaadein
actraiser - blue sapphire, let it rain, nevermore
wascal - platitudes feat ivy cairo
duncan powell - hold you, wombat
pangaea - memories, sunset yellow
dark sky - crystalised
littlefoot - alien wet dream
diverseconcepts - come, open porse, timeless journey
apathesis - begin
dawntreader - bond
synkro - together, deep down (loads more)
falty dl - phreqaflex, love is a liability LP
sines - twitt dat, stuff dreams are made of
graphics (soundcloud) - i need you VIP, the kingmaker, mixup
clueless - secret love, forgive me
loops haunt - dusks mechanics (samoyed mix)
planas - look into my eyes, roots music
para - something beyond, future
corticyte - spin glass
daega sound system - you make me feel
photomachine; dream catcher - unicorn kid (photomachine remix)
vvv
resketch - midway
kuoyah - asia, angels dub (sully remix)
cosmic revenge - hurrican blues
whistla
submerse - hold it down (plus the rest)

there is a great website devoted to this music at www.fundamentalgarage.com

is there any one out there who knows their serious shiz and could enlighten me further on this genre? any names we should know about? tunes?

x

Easy mate I am feeling this stuff a lot aswell, I might actually be getting to write for fundemental if I get the ball rolling as I emailed them a few days ago and they got back to me requesting some writing evidence so hopefulls on that, good to see some proper taste here and agreed on the relief from dubstep it adds a good amount of variety.

I dont think ive ever agreed with a thread more! I discoverd the future garage/post dubstep scene a cupple months back, at first i wasent really sure if there was much of a buzz around it or how big it was, but then i saw some producers whos names i knew producing this kind of thing i dont think i'll ever listen to dubstep the same again!

check my friend Robin's (aka BRUISES) Soundcloud. Some amazing tunes on there - a cupple are free 320's too!

I JUSt recently got into it, what a coincidence! I was pretty sad I didn't know more artists, this is great idea.. Thank you for it!
Maybe we should start more threads about genres we love and pin them.

SBTRKT are great!

imho your drum samples sound a bit crappy, otherwise good idea but too flat at the moment...
kinda pissed of because everybody needs ne genres. to me this all is dubstep, because most of those artists consider themself as a dubstep artist...

theres maybe a couple of producers up there that could be considered dubstep, but you're wrong. they're 2-step or garage. surely you can tell by the beat compostion that these tunes differ to dubstep. try doing a bit of research before you start preaching.

like your use of space in the track. has great potential, you could listen to submerse's new stuff for inspiration as i don't know how you will develop the track further. overall, nice! listened to a couple of others, like the samples you use, but rating your garage production higher.

this kind of music is infinitely more interesting than what's happening in dubstep atm. couple artists i'm a big fan of :

jamie xx - rolling in the deep, i'm new here, running
peverelist - rolling with the punches
darkstar - aidy's girl is a computer
geiom - protecting hands, flame tree
jus wan - dwell
sully - the loot, reminder, jackman's rec
vvv- linder years

and of course burial (especially untrue and his new releases with thom yorke) is simply essential.

Very pleased to find this thread. Opening post is bang on, Dubstep needs some time off to get it's head straight in my opinion.
Garage is what originally got me into good music and I believe that a great deal of newer music/genres have taken a lot from it. A lot of people turn their noses up at garage but love, say, dubstep and house of various varieties without realizing it's history.
I'm sure lots will think bad of me for this but I have developed a taste for the (for want of a more accurate description) bassline scene. Although only the odd few tunes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoE2Bl_GV_0

There's a link in the information for free download. I am loving this track and if anyone knows anything similar i'd much appreciate a heads up!

This is a great thread. As several have also mentioned, I stumbled unto the post dubstep future garage scene a few months back and it was savior for me. I was SICK and fed up with where Dubstep is now. I need progression and innovation in my life wink.gif
