With my impending move to a new house, I am finally going to have enough room to start collecting vinyl again.

Would recommend any advice on second hand vinyl sellers in the Europe area (i know of discogs ofc) or if any of you want to sell house vinyl from 1980 -2000 then gimme a shout

I've never bought second hand vinyls, but when I need to check old releases for any reason, I eventually browse Vinyl Searcher and Global Groove.

I'd pretty much go with Discogs. Think of them like an Amazon marketplace but for music. Many of the people selling on Discogs are actually record shops and collectors, and are pretty reliable. Some are even the labels themselves selling off their backstock. Go with the seller ratings, and the number of people who have given that seller a good rating. I've bought a ton of stuff off Discogs, and I've only ever had one real problem, from a seller with a low number of ratings (he sent me the wrong record, that stoner!)

But then again, if your looking for that one special album, you're going to have to just get it wherever you can find it

I've bought a few from Discogs, always had excellent quality including a white label version of Global Communications 76:14 for £35 which was a bargain.

sadly, second hand market for records has sort of fallen apart -
even the biggest or more famous stores in london has closed over the years, record and tape exchange being the last, they still have a couple of stores here and there, and of course london has its share of other music stores, but not many second hand ones left - Beanos used to be the main place to go, but that closed 5 years ago or so - thus, like many others have stated, discogs or other online sites have taken the place of second hand high street stores - which is not a bad thing, though sure, you have to pay for shipping, just make sure you build up a solid 'want' list in discogs and you ll often find a seller with more than one of your wanted items in his batch, saving you some postage costs.

i use Discogs ofc but i've also used https://www.musicstack.com/ and http://www.recordsale.de/ a lot.
Both have decent prices and most of the times shipping prices are similar or cheaper than discogs.

I'd be wary of Discogs... the stores on there are sound, but I've experienced and heard some pretty gnarly stories from unscrupulous sellers... including a record that was posted unsleeved sandwiched in between 2 bits of cardboard!

I also ordered a copy of Shadetek - Reign and it never came

Regarding Discogs, I'd recommend making account there and then filling your "Wantlist" with releases you're interested in. That way, when you list certain records, seller with other records you're interested in will be noted (for example "Seller X has 8 items you want"), that way you can save some time when searching and ordering.

my recent visit to london demonstrated that more and more record shops are feeling the force of internet shopping - sadly, it seems with time most will dissapear - for example, record and video exchange which used to have 5 shops dotted around london, now only counts 2 with any decent stock, and even then, nmost of it is off limits as they are out of staff or cannot manage their accumulated (unsold) stock ... must be so frustrating for those who work there, and really sad to see such 'institutions' wither away...
